Whether you have heard it from a friend or by searching online adrenal fatigue is one of the most talked about, most debilitating conditions that are commonly found in our stress driven society. And yet, if you have mentioned what you have read to your medical doctor, you have probably been confronted with a combination of ‘this isn’t a real diagnosis’ or ‘there is no such thing’. However, you are still convinced that this long list of symptoms clearly describes how you are indeed feeling.
I wish that all doctors were responsive to this very real condition that impacts the functioning of your entire body not just your adrenal glands. It can impact on your body’s ability to regulate blood sugar, regulate thyroid hormones, and it can damage the gut and impact on your mood and sleep and so much more.
I’ve been there. My adrenals were toast, and my own medical community couldn’t figure it out, and yet I knew deep in my heart that something was very wrong. I was sure that what I was experiencing was a sign post along the way to something more serious and possibly irreversible.
Fortunately, with the evolution of Functional Medicine we are aware that there is a wealth of lifestyle and dietary modifications that when combined with herbal supplements can help to heal the adrenals and reverse the symptoms.
