Sleep & Mood Issues

Many people who have an advanced cortisol dysregulation or adrenal fatigue, will also likely have neurotransmitter deficiencies that can present with mood disruption including anxiety and depression, sleep disturbances and muscle loss.

These neurotransmitters are also known as our “brain hormones” and are formed from the basic building blocks – the amino acids. Often stress will lead to digestive disturbances and our bodies will have difficulties breaking down the protein in our food into amino acids that are in turn used to build muscle, keep our moods stable, keep our impulses in check, keep us happy and keep us asleep at night. Multiple other causes can contribute to sleep and mood disruptions and must be evaluated to get at the root cause of the issue.

Treatment of Sleep & Mood Issues:

Sleep and mood disruption often have multiple contributing factors and each needs to be explored to regulate sleep and mood.

Testing of various forms can delineate areas that need repletion, like magnesium deficiency, melatonin deficiency, amino acid deficiencies and vitamin D deficiencies.
