Did you know that emotions have a tremendous impact on your physiology?
We often learn though our upbringing, culture, society and/or the education system that emotions should not be shown or felt, especially those that are viewed as “negative”. The end result is emotional suppression and numbing.
Furthermore, a lack of emotional awareness creates an imbalance between your parasympathetic nervous system (fight/flight) and sympathetic nervous system (rest/digest). This in turn creates havoc with your hormonal system, adrenal system, digestion and more!
Often we ignore emotional wellness – maybe because emotions are intangible, maybe because no-one taught you how to deal with negative emotions, maybe it’s painful, maybe it was more acceptable to put a happy face on (the life of people-pleasing and perfectionism)
Do you have other reasons as to why you don’t deal with or feel your emotions?
Are you ready to bring more emotional awareness and self-regulation into your life?
