Dr. Kristy Prouse MD began her academic career in 1988 at the University of Western Ontario where she completed a BA in Psychology, followed by a BSc in Genetics and Cell Biology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Prouse then earned her medical degree at Queen’s University and completed her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training receiving the Laparoscopic Surgery Award of Excellence. As a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Dr. Prouse has practiced Obstetrics and Gynaecology for over a decade in the GTA.
Dr. Prouse has done additional training in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine through the University of Southern Florida – School of Medicine. A field of medicine and scientific research, antiaging medicine is aimed at the early detection, prevention, treatment and reversal of age-related decline. Regenerative medicine, meanwhile, aims to optimize the body’s endogenous – or own internal – mechanisms of self-healing, while augmenting the process with proven exogenous – or external-to-the-body – treatments and technologies.
Dr. Prouse’s path to this relatively new, specialized field began with an increasing appreciation of the impact that running a high-volume obstetrical practice was having on her own health and happiness. She concluded that western medicine had little to offer her circumstances, and set out to investigate various forms of complementary medicine, including naturopathic medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and bioenergetic medicine.
Learning along the way, she began the process of healing herself and opening her mind to new possibilities. Gradually, Dr. Prouse discovered that her philosophy about life in general, and medicine in particular, had shifted. “I’m now living a more focused, centered and grounded life –with the keen awareness that we only have this moment.”
In addition to running her busy practise, Dr. Prouse sits on the editorial review board for Integrated Healthcare Practitioners journal and is associate professor at the University of Toronto. Her passion for educating has led Dr. Prouse to develop an educational program to train other healthcare practitioners in hormonal health.
Dr. Kate Austin, is an open minded, inquisitive, and empathetic family physician who wants to help patients reach their health goals and get the most out of life.
Dr. Austin completed her MD at Western University (Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry). While attending Medical school Dr Austin appreciated the need for a holistic approach to patient care. She recognized early on in her career the importance of looking after the whole person which led her to the Family Medicine Residency Program at the University of Toronto.
During her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University her research in neuroscience and psychology further ignited her interest in the mind body connection.
Throughout Dr. Austin’s medical training and residency, she noticed many of her colleagues and mentors suffering from burnout, which has become one of the 21st century pandemics. She recognized the signs of burnout in herself during the high stress demands of residency and decided to seek out a more balanced, sustainable path. In order to take care of others, you have to take care of yourself first. Integrative Medicine seemed to offer a unique approach to medicine that looks at the root cause of an issue and aims for balance in physiologically and in life in general.
Ever curious and progressive, she investigated the field of Integrative Medicine by working under prominent integrative physicians who have helped shape the current landscape in Canada. Dr. Austin saw firsthand how “Integrative” or “Functional Medicine” can address health issues effectively.
She believes deeply in the power of integrative medicine – the best of conventional medicine and evidence-based naturopathic medicine under one roof to provide holistic care that is safe, effective, and comprehensive. The collaborative team approach appeals to her as each practitioner has a unique perspective and skill set to implement that can positively impact patient care, especially when coordinated. This is all done with a preventative medicine slant, which we have difficulty tackling in our current healthcare system.
In her free time she enjoys spending time in nature, travelling, sports…particularly skiing and tennis, and eating good food with good friends. She is thrilled to be joining the fantastic team at IHH to help patients feel their best!

Dr. Ashley Nelson is a Naturopathic Doctor dedicated to empowering patients to achieve the health and wellness they desire. Dr. Ashley prioritizes empathic listening and understanding to truly connect with patients and allow them to feel heard. She believes in the meaning behind doctor, or docere, which means ‘to teach’. It is important to not only recommend or counsel patients about their health, but to truly teach them about their body; how to listen to the subtle (and not so subtle) messages it provides, how to address our bodies and symptoms with compassion rather than suppression. Supporting one’s health means encouraging the body to heal itself, promote vitality, and provide care and attention to all aspects of our body – the physical, mental, and emotional.
Dr. Ashley Nelson attended the University of Waterloo where she majored in Biology. After discovering the incredible value of Naturopathic Medicine, she enrolled in the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine and received her Doctor of Naturopathy. She is licensed under the College of Naturopaths of Ontario [CONO].
Dr. Ashley has a special interest in Mental Health, Hormones, and Naturopathic Aesthetics. To advance her care in these areas she has completed a psychiatric preceptorship at the Waypoint Center for Mental Health, certification in Medical CBT for Anxiety and Depression, and Post-Graduate Training for Integrative Psychiatry.
Dr. Ashley has completed the Ontario Prescribing and Therapeutics Licensing Process allowing her to prescribe certain medications, and she is Intravenous Infusion Therapy Certified.
Outside of practice, Dr. Ashley enjoys staying active, swimming, running, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Mohammed completed medical school at Cairo University in Egypt where he graduated with honours and then joined the clinical oncology residency program where he was trained in chemotherapy, radiation and palliative care. Dr. Mohammed also obtained his Masters Degree in oncology and his Medical Doctorate in radiation oncology. He was promoted to professor of clinical oncology in the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University in 2009.
Dr. Mohammed received his board certification in naturopathic medicine from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in 2015, spent one year at the integrative cancer clinic at Robert Shad Naturopathic Clinic in Toronto, and two years in the research department of CCNM, researching naturopathic support of colon cancer patients. In 2017, this research was presented at the annual American Association of Naturopathic Physicians Conference (AANP) in Phoenix, Arizona.
It was Dr. Mohammed’s exposure to cancer centres in Canada including the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal where he first appreciated the significant impact that mind-spirit medicine can have on the outcomes of various ailments including cancer. It was with this understanding that he pursued the study of naturopathic medicine in Toronto where he also earned his Intravenous (IV) Infusion Therapy and Pharmaceutical Prescription licenses. Dr. Mohammed promotes a collaborative and integrative approach to patient care and because of his familiarity with both conventional and naturopathic approaches to oncology care he is in a unique position to bridge the gap between these two medical communities.
Dr. Mohammed is pleased to support cancer patients by offering the best individually designed naturopathic methods using the state-of-the-art scientific knowledge and evidence-based practice. Many patients have achieved high levels of immune support and better tolerance to cancer treatments under his care.

Her own healing journey ignited a deepening clarity and commitment to help clients reclaim their vitality and maximize their quality of life.
The key differentiator for Tammy’s programs lies in the meshing of her strong science background with her intuitive nature, as well as her advocacy for BLISS (body love, self-love, inner-connectedness, stress mastery, sustainability). Rather than segregate a goal based on end results, she instead investigates her clients’ individually. Her bold and inquisitive approach, coupled with her deep understanding of energy and mind/body alignment discards band-aid solutions, and provides an exceptional assessment and methodology unlike any other. Her approach breaks past the convention of “overwork”, and prevents regressive patterns to allow changes that are lasting and symbiotic in both mental and physical health.
Tammy helps busy women who have lost their balance in life. She coaches transitioning female competitors, workaholics with hormonal imbalances, women suffering from overwhelm, perfectionists in pursuit of their ideal bodies and women seeking authenticity, peace and freedom in their lives.
